A burglar who was involved in a break-in at a house in Trimley St Mary at night while the owners were asleep has been jailed for 28 months.
Adam Cholewinski and another man entered the house in Langstons, Trimley St Mary, through an insecure back door and made an untidy search of the lounge and dining area before leaving with a handbag containing a purse, car keys and bank cards, and a wallet, mobile phone and an iPod, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Azza Brown, prosecuting, said the offence happened overnight on December 11 and 12 last year and when scenes of crime investigators examined the property they found two black latex gloves in the kitchen.
Police officers who went to a house in Russell Road, Felixstowe on December 21 found three men, including Cholewinski, at the premises, as well as the iPod stolen during the burglary at the house in Langstons and a purse and papers stolen during a burglary in Stennett’s Close, Trimley St Mary.
They also found a large box of black latex gloves, said Miss Brown.
A black Ford Galaxy registered to Cholewinski was searched and in a storage compartment police officers found a purse, bank card and driving licence which had been stolen during a burglary in Mill Lane, Trimley St Martin.
Cholewinski, 44, of Shotley Close, Felixstowe, admitted burglary and two offences of handling stolen goods.
When Cholewinski was interviewed by police he said he had been working in a bacon factory in Bury St Edmunds and lived with his partner and daughter in Felixstowe.
Rakesh Sharma, for Cholewinski, said his client had a nine-year-old daughter and had lived in this country for eight years.
He said he had previous convictions in Poland, but nothing similar to the offences currently before the court.
He said Cholewinski was a hard worker and as well as working at a bacon factory he had also worked at Felixstowe docks.
Mr Rakesh said his client wished to apologise to the victims of the offences for what he had done.
The court heard that Cholewinski had been served with a deportation notice.
