Mya Rudland faced the scissors yesterday morning, raising more than £700 for the Little Princess Trust.

Her hair will also be donated to the charity, which turns donated human hair into wigs for children who have lost theirs due to chemotherapy and other medical treatments.

Her mother Kylie Sewell said she was very proud her kind-hearted daughter.

She said: “In March she just came home one day and asked could she have her hair cut off for charity. I said ‘where did you get that idea?’ and she said ‘off YouTube’.

“It was all her idea, it is the only reason she did it.”

Mya’s school, Shotley Primary, held a ‘wild hat and hair day’ last week, adding an extra £130 to the schoolgirl’s charity money pot.
