St Patrick’s Day - a public holiday in Ireland - dates back to the early 17th Century and celebrates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

One of the most famous celebrations worldwide for St Patrick’s day is the yearly dying of the Chicago River. The river is dyed bright green to commemorate the number of Irish people that migrated to Chicago in the early 20th Century.
