The budget airline, Ryanair, announced last week that it would be making daily cancellations to its flights to improve punctuality until the end of October.
The operator announced last Friday, September 15, that it will be cancelling between 40 and 50 flights each day for six weeks.
This is in a bid to improve the punctuality of the Irish airline, which dropped to below 80% at the start of this month.
Ryanair explained it had problems with punctuality due to air traffic control capacity delays, strikes, weather disruptions, and a backlog of annual leave to pilots and cabin crew that needs to be used before December 31.
The flight cancellations make up 2% of Ryanair’s scheduled flights, but up to 285,000 passengers could be affected, including those who are flying from Stansted.
All flights are expected to return to normal by November when its winter schedule will begin and its punctuality is back up to its 90% average.
