McCarthy guided Town to four wins from five league games in August, Ipswich starting the season with four victories and ending the month second in the table.

As for Waghorn, the summer signing from Rangers scored the winner on his debut, in the 2-1 victory at Barnsley.

He then netted twice in the 4-2 victory at Millwall before scoring as Town beat Brentford 2-0, at Portman Road.

Waghorn faces stiff competition from Cardiff’s Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp and Preston’s Darnell Fisher.

McCarthy goes up against Neil Warnock, who has got Cardiff off to a perfect start, Leeds’ Thomas Christiansen and Wolves’ Nuno Santo.

The winners will be announced tomorrow at 6am.
