Memory
My lasting childhood memories are as a teen going shopping in Ipswich on a Saturday with my best friend Sara (who coincidentally works at Matisa!) – my mum dropping us at the back of Debenhams.
We would go and shop in Just In, Moons in the Walk and Boots for Rimmel make-up and have a pizza at the Noble Romans Pizzeria or go to Ridley’s for the salad bar and coffee cake.
The height of sophistication!
Landmark
Sutton Hoo. It is a magical place at any time of the year.
My daughter was a summer helper here and my partner Dominic’s mother Bridget’s ashes are scattered in the woods as she volunteered there for many years and loved the place.
I love the landscape and the historic importance of the site and never tire of visiting it.
Attraction/day out
Easton Farm Park. This was a staple when I lived in Portugal and I would bring my daughters Matilda and Isabel to Suffolk – this was always their favourite place! Holding a guinea pig on a square of carpet is one of their English childhood memories.
Pub
Unequivocally the Grundisburgh Dog. We are so blessed to have the best village pub, that is cosy in winter and cheery in summer. We also now have the Grundisburgh Dog Deli, so we are doubly spoilt!
Place to eat
A recent discovery – Martha’s Barn at Otley Hall. The setting is so lovely and the food creative and seasonal and they celebrate locally sourced produce.
I love everything on their menu – especially the cakes!
Shop
If I am going to shop on the street then I head to New Street Market. I love what Sam has created with the space; beautifully curated homewares and their sustainable clothing brand Homespun.
I love Soeur and By Malene Birger too so if I am going to invest in a new piece, I would always try and source from a local independent in the first instance and New Street Market would be my first port of call.
Export
LA Brewery. I love all their drinks and their Rose Kombucha is the best and my go-to alcohol-free alternative.
Walk
Always along the Deben to Kyson Point – it always delivers!
