FIREFIGHTERS are currently at the scene of a huge straw blaze this morning after fire broke out just after midnight.
Three crews from Mildenhall and Newmarket are still tackling the fire in Hurdle Drove, West Row, near RAF Mildenhall, which involved 1,000 tonnes of bailed straw.
Fire control received a call alerting them to the fire at about midnight and upon arrival at the scene firefighters discovered the bails well alight.
The straw bails are currently being allowed to burn and crews are working to protect the surrounding area using hose reel jets to dampen down.
The incident is on-going and crews are maintaining a fire watch at the scene.
