There are currently lengthy delays for drivers heading into Ipswich this morning after a four-vehicle crash near the Orwell Bridge on the A14. 

Traffic has been building on key routes into the town including Wherstead Road, Hadleigh Road, and A1214 off Copdock. 

Emergency services were called to the four-vehicle crash on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 at about 8am on Monday. 

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area where possible. 

One lane of the eastbound carriageway has been closed, Suffolk police has confirmed. 

In a Tweet, National Highways East said: "Lane two is closed on the A14 eastbound between junction 56 and junction 57 near Ipswich and the Orwell Bridge due to a multi-vehicle collision.
