The trial of a 20-year-old man from Ipswich accused of rape will continue next week.
Jason Rogers, of Downside Close, is accused of nine counts of rape of a girl under 13 and is currently facing trial at Ipswich Crown Court.
He has denied all offences and on Friday Judge Nicola Talbot-Hadley began the summary of the case.
The court has previously heard on Wednesday, the girl’s mother told the court that in January of 2022, her daughter had told her they needed to have a talk.
She then told her mother about the alleged rapes.
The mother said she told her daughter that she was a very brave girl and she loved her very much.
Days later, the woman approached Rogers about the alleged offences.
She told the court that she asked him, “Did you touch my little girl?”
The court also heard that Rogers had written a note after the allegations were made.
In a statement to police he said he’d been interested in learning about sex and hadn’t been aware at the time that what he was doing was wrong.
The trial continues.
