An Ipswich man has been fined hundreds of pounds after pleading guilty to stealing a phone and being in possession of cocaine.

Damion Spearman, 43, of Mountbatten Court in the Suffolk town, was ordered to pay £215 after admitting to the crimes at Suffolk Magistrates' Court.

Spearman stole the phone, a Samsung S20 FE, totalling the value of £200 in May of this year and his guilty plea was taken into account when magistrates decided on his sentence.

His legal costs to be paid to the court amounted to £85 with a surcharge of £86 added, while payments are to be made in instalments of £100.

In June of this year, Spearman was also found to be in possession of cocaine, which he also pleaded guilty to.

The class A substance was forfeited and destroyed with Spearman facing no separate penalty for the crime.

Both of the offences took place in Ipswich, a court listing confirmed.
