A vacant town centre shop has become a temporary home for Sports Direct.
The store began trading from the former H&M store on Tavern Street from Saturday as it waits to move into its new home in Buttermarket.
The H&M store has been vacant since November 2022, after the multi-national retailer saw the closure of 240 stores following a slowdown in sales.
During 2022, it was understood that Fraser Group, which is the sport retailer's parent company, would open the luxury brand Flannel in the Tavern Street site.
This later changed after Fraser Group announced that Flannels would be one of five stores opening up inside the former BHS.
This Sports Direct is being used as a pop-up site before it moves into Buttermarket permanently.
The store has closed its Carr Street location and moved its remaining products to the Tavern Street venue where it will continue its 20% store closing discount.
The retail giant is one of five shops to open in the Buttermarket building, with Flannels, Sports Direct, GAME, USC and Evans Cycles set to open in the former clothes shop later this year.
