Further calls have been made by the Ipswich Society to reduce the number of flats in the proposals for a three-storey block of flats close to a historic church.
In August, Ipswich Borough Council received the application from Landex Ltd for the piece of land in Fore Street, to be turned into 22 flats of different sizes.
The site sits close to Grade II* listed 15th-century church of St Clements and Grade II listed Lord Nelson Pub.
However, Ipswich Society believes that these applicants should scale down the size of their proposal due to its impact on both the pub and the church.
They said: "There should be fewer flats, there is too much squeezed onto the site.
"The building proposed will detract from the Lord Nelson, and the view of St Clements from Fore Street should be retained.
"The front gable is out of place to allow a huge opening at the front."
Similar calls were made by Historic England in September, who said that the shape of the roof and the lack of details about the side facing St Clement's Church could open the door to adverse effects on the church.
They had asked the applicants to reduce the scale of their plan, re-do the roof line and detail how the building would look on the side of St Clements Lane and how they plan to reduce the impact on it.
However, the applicants have yet to submit a revised plan on the proposals.
The current plans state that all the flats would differ in size, catering for between one to four people, and the number of beds ranging from one to three.
In addition to the flats, cycle storage will be provided with space for 48 cycles.
There is no parking provision supplied with the plans due to the location being close to the town centre and the Waterfront.
