MORE than £1,000 has been raised in aid of the autistic twins, Kate and Sam Horsfield.

The money was collected in a night of music and dancing which was held at Gainsborough Sports and Community Centre, in Ipswich, and it will go towards paying for their special education.

Organiser Joyce Burrows, said: "Everyone had a fantastic time dancing and the atmosphere was electric, everyone danced the night away to the sounds of the band."

An estimated 175 people attended the event and a total of £1,056 was raised. The twins' parents, Samantha and Peter were overwhelmed by the amount of money which was donated.

Kate and Sam have really been taken to the hearts of the Suffolk community through many fund-raising events set up to help them combat autism through special tuition.

The fund-raising was boosted when the twins became beneficiaries of the Evening Star's Press Ball this year and a special money-spinning sponsored walk was also held.

A raffle at the music and dancing event took place with almost 100 prizes donated by family and friends and local businesses, raising hundreds of pounds, including a portable CD player donated by Comet of Ipswich, and a signed pennant and T-shirt from Ipswich Town.

Mrs Burrows said she wanted to say a special thank you to Margaret Bean, Julie Burrows, Cherry Rice and Frances Lilley for their help with the fundraising raffle.

A special mention also goes to all the businesses for their donated prizes for the raffle, too numerous to mention in full, but includes: Bonus Print, Olan Mills, Happy Snaps, Evolution, Sean Hollobone Karate, Kidz Kingdom, Kingpin Bowling, Solar Bowl, Courtyard Marriott, Boots, M&S, Moons, Thing me Bobs, Home Sweet Home, Comet, Bedwells Florist, Riverside Woodbridge, Co-op, Gainsborough Pharmacy and Kent Blaxhall.
