A FORMER Ipswich physiotherapy student who left 68 years ago and now lives in Australia has presented a gift to a school in gratitude for her education.

Joy Miles (nee Patch), 86, who left Ipswich High School for girls in 1934, was only the second student in the school to study physiotherapy and clearly has fond memories of her time there.

Mrs Miles first migrated to Australia after World War Two, and eventually settled in Western Australia.

She asked her daughter, Julia Levinson, to present a polished wooden plate to headmistress Valerie MacCuish on her behalf.
