Drivers faced delays after part of the A12 was closed following a two car collision.
Firefighters freed a woman trapped in an overturned car between junctions 22 - 21.
The incident, which happened at around 3.12pm, closed the London-bound carriageway between Witham North and Witham South.
The road was closed for over four hours following the incident.
