DRIVERS using the A14 faced heavy delays today following a three-lorry smash.

The accident took place at 3.53am near Swavesey in Cambridgeshire on the Ipswich-bound carriageway, which was closed until 8.10am.

One person was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with injuries described as serious but not life threatening.

A police spokesman said tailbacks were expected to last throughout the morning and advised drivers to take a different route where possible.
