AN ACCIDENT which forced police to close the A14 near to the junction with the A140 today is still causing congestion although the Bury St Edmunds-bound carriageway has been re-opened.

AN ACCIDENT which forced police to close the A14 near to the junction with the A140 today is still causing congestion although the Bury St Edmunds-bound carriageway has been re-opened.

One lane of the Ipswich-bound carriageway has also been opened.

The accident happened at around 1.20pm when a tanker carrying liquid nitrogen struck the central reservation.

A police spokesman said recovery of the tanker was currently taking place.
