Three fire crews are tonight battling a blaze near the A14 at Whitehouse.
The slip road onto the dual carriageway is currently closed to traffic.
The fire is at West Meadows travellers’ site, the scene of an alleged double stabbing in which two men were killed last week.
Firefighters were called at 10.08pm and sent crews from Princes Street, Ipswich and Ipswich East station. Suffolk police also have officers in attendance.
A police spokesman said: “We can confirm there is a fire at West Meadows. It is a large fire and the on-slip at junction 53 of the A14, heading westbound, is currently closed to traffic.”
The victims of Thursday’s double stabbing have been formally identified as 32-year-old Barry Street and 18-year-old Nathan Oakley – both from Ipswich.
A teenage boy, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, is due in court in Ipswich to face murder charges tomorrow morning.
