A SUFFOLK road was temporarily closed today following a chemical leak.
A SUFFOLK road was temporarily closed today following a chemical leak.
The incident took place at the junction of the A140 and the A143 near Eye at around 9.30am.
Emergency services were called following reports that a vehicle had leaked a small amount of sodium hydroxide on the carriageway.
The road closure, enforced by police as a precaution, caused delays to motorists.
Fire crews from Eye, Stowmarket, Needham Market and Bury St Edmunds helped in the clean-up operation, which involved washing the chemical from the road surface.
Sodium hydroxide can cause chemical burns and scarring if it comes into contact with skin.
