A 51-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with a head injury after the helmet he was wearing came off during a crash in a Suffolk town today.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the single-vehicle collision involving a motorbike on the A1307 in Haverhill at around 4.45pm.

The rider was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge by land ambulance with what were initially thought to be life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

However, a spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary has confirmed the man is now stable.

The police spokesman said the motorcyclist lost his helmet during the collision and subsequently hit his head.
