AN INVESTIGATION into allegations that illegal training took place at a grass airfield has cleared a flying club of any wrongdoing.

The Civil Aviation Authority has revealed that the Horizon Flying Club had not committed any offence at the Monewden airfield, near Framlingham.

This was the latest inquiry into flying activities at the controversial airstrip and next year a public inquiry will be held on a separate matter.

The inquiry in 2007 has been called after an appeal was lodged against a decision taken by Suffolk Coastal District Council to limit the number of movements to 400 annually after officers had discovered they had risen to 2,500.

The CAA has now closed the investigation although it can be reopened if further evidence arises in the future which contradicts the current evidence.
