There is just nothing sacred for the Pub Landlord. He’ll touch every raw nerve in your body with his bigoted and single-minded view on life.

Publican, politician, other things beginning with “P”, he’s the national critically acclaimed bar-based Braveheart.

Al Murray with his alter-ego, The Pub Landlord, has embarked on what he calls a common-sense campaign to re-Great Britain in his brand new comedy show entitled “Let’s Go Backwards Together”, which started back in February and finishes on June 10, embracing up to 60 different venues across the UK.

A near full house at the Regent had the full range of his repertoire, with a little help from the audience, as he gave his views on Brexit, the Scottish National Party, politics, immigration, the Middle East, new technology and much, much more.

He has the amazing capacity to remember all the names of those in the audience he interacts with…and that is the strength of this near two-hour show.

He quizzes them all from a train driver, suitably perched in the front row, to a nurse, a teacher, an electrician, an operation’s manager, health and safety executive, a nursery worker, a student, a support worker, a hairdresser, a sawmill operator, a retired civil servant, and one elderly man in the audience who he irreverently refers to as “Pops”.

But they all take his exaggerated remarks and criticisms in good spirits while he pours another froth-filled pint from his makeshift bar on stage.

He manages to persuade some of them to simply be part of his unique show by displaying their talents with exaggerated shouts and gesticulations.

He described Isis as “angry young men from Birmingham and Leeds” and during a long and elaborate monologue explained how Britain has been occupied by millions of foreigners going back to the days of the Romans.

“I Read It On The Internet…It Simply Must Be True,” was one of his rare songs he linked into his performance and by the finale had the audience singing along to “Let’s Go Backwards Together”.
