AN Ipswich Scout group has today announced that tickets for the hugely popular annual firework display in Christchurch Park will go on sale next week.

Volunteers from the 11th Ipswich Scout Group are planning an Adventure into Space theme for the event next month, with everyone encouraged to come dressed as any space-related character they fancy, from Darth Vaders to astronauts.

The 37th annual event, on Saturday, November 1, will also feature a dramatic NASA Apollo 13 countdown, the musical adventure of Star Wars and Star Trek and the mystery of War of the Worlds' gripping intergalactic battle scenes.

The person with the best costume will appear on a massive screen which looks out over the whole park.

The musical fireworks, which cost £32,000, are designed and fired by the Shell Shock firework Company from Bramfield, near Halesworth.

Live music from popular Soul Kitchen and dance champions Chung Si will be performing on the BBC Radio Suffolk live stage.

Tickets for the event go on sale from Monday, October 6. There is a 33 per cent discount for those who get their tickets before the big day.

Discount tickets prices for children are £4 and £6 for adults. On the night of the event tickets cost £6 for children and £9 for adults.

The discount tickets can only be bought until October 31 from various locations in Ipswich, including The Evening Star offices, Lower Brook Street, all Sainsbury's stores, Tesco Extra, Copdock Mill, Martin's Newsagents, Tower Ramparts Shopping Centre, and the Tourist Information Centre, St Stephens Lane.

They can also be bought from News Plus Group, Thoroughfare, Woodbridge, Evening Star offices, Hamilton Road, Felixstowe, Tourist Information Centre, Wilkes Way, Stowmarket, and Keith Avis High Street, Hadleigh.
