Ammonia leak scare at hospital

FIRE fighters were called to Ipswich Hospital this morning following reports of an ammonia leak on one of the wards.

The leak happened at Bergholt Ward at the hospital on Heath Road.

The leak happened at Bergholt Ward at the hospital on Heath Road.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "This morning we were called to an automatic fire alarm in Bergholt Ward.

"We received an informative message that it is not a fire but an active leak of ammonia coming from an unknown source.

"Two breathing apparatus and fire fighters using chemical protection suits are investigating the leak."

Four fire engines, a turntable ladder and a control vehicle from Felixstowe attended the incident.
