FRAMLINGHAM College pupil Andrzej Thompson admitted to being “shocked” when told he had obtained eleven A* grades in his GCSE exams.

“I was speechless. They are better than I ever imagined and they have made me very happy,” he said.

The youngster, who lives with his mother, Hania, at Framsden has an older brother, Staszek , who is currently studying at university.

Andrzej said was very grateful to his family and to staff at Framlingham College for the help and support they had given him.

He is planning to study languages, history and English at A-level before going on to university.

“I have not thought about a career but I do want to make a difference and make the world a better place,” he said.

Andrzej moved to Framlingham College on a drama scholarship from South Lee School in Bury St Edmunds. He did exceptionally well in his first year at his new school and his scholarship was upgraded to that of a Pembroke scholar for general studies.

Gwen Randall, college head, said: “He was always excelled on the arts side but his maths was quite weak at one time. He responded well to the Framlingham environment and made enormous progress.”
