IPSWICH Police today renewed their appeals for information following a serious assault in a residential area of the town, which has left a 52-year-old man with a broken hip.
Following police enquiries it is understood that around 2.20am on Sunday a male and female were heard arguing in the Willowcroft Road / Elmcroft Road area of Ipswich.
Thinking it was his daughter arguing the 52-year-old man went into the street and approached the couple in the alleyway (also known as The Drift) between Elmcroft Road and Ashcroft Road.
The man was subsequently kicked and punched sustaining a broken hip and head injuries.
The couple then walked off towards Ashcroft Road.
