Witnesses are being sought after a man was reported to have assaulted a woman in Ipswich town centre.
Police were called to the scene in St Margaret’s Street, near the Manor Ballroom, shortly before 6pm on Friday, June 15.
A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said it received “reports that a male was witnessed allegedly assaulting a female”.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault.
He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning but was later released under investigation pending further inquiries.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the alleged incident taking place between the times of 5.45pm and 6pm in St Margaret’s Street and at the junction of St Margaret’s Green.
