FINAL year students on the BSc (Hons) Radiography courses at Suffolk College gathered together to applaud Marianne Jeffries who has won this year's Robert Monro Anatomy Prize awarded by Dr Simon Smith, Consultant Radiologist at The Ipswich Hospital.
The prize is awarded annually to the student who achieves the highest mark in their anatomy examination and is in memory of Robert Monro (1919 - 1984). Mr Monro was a Consultant Surgeon at the Ipswich Hospital from the 1950's.
In 1969 he became a consultant radiologist and volunteered to teach anatomy and physiology to student radiographers. He retired from medicine in 1981 and, after he died in 1984, a Trust Fund was established to award the Robert Monro Anatomy Prize to a student radiographer.
Jane Day, Associate Dean for Radiography at Suffolk College, said, "The Robert Monro Anatomy Prize gives staff and students the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and reminds us of the contribution Robert Monro made to student radiographers' education.
"This group of students are just about to graduate and will be working in NHS hospitals all over the region as highly qualified graduate practitioners."
