A new Halloween event is creeping into Ipswich this year in support of a local hospice charity.
St Elizabeth Hospice, which organises the popular Midnight Walk and Bubble Rush in the town, is now preparing a new spooky stroll for its supporters called Who’s Afraid of the Park?
The event offers a family-friendly stroll around Chantry Park on Sunday, October 29, during the day, before it gets a lot scarier during the After Dark event for people aged 15 and over.
Becky Jedrzejewski, events and challenges fundraiser for the hospice, said: “We’re really excited to add Who’s Afraid of the Park? to our events calender in support of the hospice.
“There’s nothing quite like it in the area and we’ve designed a course that’s child friendly, but will take a turn after dark for the adults.
“The three kilometre course around the park will be lined with Halloween tricks and treats.
“You may find creepy crawlies in the pumpkin patch, discover witches mixing their potions and cackling round the cauldron and be covered in foam and gunge.”
The family-friendly course on October 29 begins at 3pm. Children will come face to face with all things that go bump in the night on this wander through the park.
They’ll be spooked by scarers, play in the pumpkin patch and creep around circus clowns as they come across a UV drip pond, a UV gunge shower, a UV bubble pod and a UV foam cannon as they make their way around the eerie course.
Fancy dress is encouraged and there will be a prize for the best dressed.
After Dark will begin at 7pm and is recommended for those over 15 years of age.
The course will mirror that of the Spooky Stroll but will also include the mist and murk of the moonlit lake with a variety of Halloween characters ready to jump out and scare passers-by.
Tickets for the Spooky Stroll cost £20 for adults or £15 if bought before September 11, and £12 for children aged three to 14 or £8 if bought in advance.
Those aged under two are free to take part.
All tickets for After Dark cost £20 for adults or £15 if purchased before September 11.
