An armed police officer was called to Kesgrave as a safety precaution after a report was received of an injured dog today.
The 999 call was made at 12.35pm and officers were on the scene about five minutes later but were unable to find the animal.
They went to the A1214 Main Road, near the roundabout with Ropes Drive east, close to Kesgrave High School.
“We had a report of an animal injured in the woods,” said a spokeswoman in the police control room. “We attended and did an area search and there was no trace.”
