A man arrested in connection with an incident that saw armed police descend on Ipswich town centre last night will face no further action.
Multiple units were sent to St Helen’s Street at 8.15pm on Saturday after a member of the public in a pub reported that a man in the area had a gun.
Witnesses reported seeing officers armed with guns and several police cars in the street close by.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman confirmed armed police were called to the incident and that a man was detained near to where the incident was reported.
Officers arrested a 66-year-old man on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm.
Police released him from custody this afternoon and the spokesman said he will now face no further action.
