ARMED police were called to a house in Colchester last night after a man threatened a woman with a knife.
Police descended on the house in Lisle Road, between Mersea and Military roads just before 6.30pm.
Shortly afterwards the woman and a young child managed to leave the house unharmed.
Police negotiators were then involved in a two-hour stand-off with the man who eventually gave himself up and walked out of the property.
The 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and is being questioned by police today.
