DETECTIVES have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at an Ipswich petrol station.

A man threatened a cashier at the Shell garage at Bourne Bridge with a knife before climbing on to the counter and stealing money and cigarettes.
He then made off along Wherstead Road, heading out of town.
The raid took place at around 10.35pm yesterday.
The man is white, 5ft9ins to 5ft11ins, of slim to medium build and was wearing dark blue denim jeans, dark coloured trainers, a black or dark grey zip-up hooded jacket with pockets, a dark blue handkerchief-type scarf with a white floral pattern and black gloves.
The robbery is the second in Ipswich in less than a week.

On Friday afternoon, a member of staff at the Major's newsagent in Major's Corner was held up at knife point.
