Armed raid terror at shopping centre

POLICE are today hunting three masked men who threatened shop workers during an armed robbery at Lakeside shopping centre.The men, one of whom was carrying a hand gun, threatened four female workers before smashing a display cabinet and making off with a large quantity of watches from the Ernest Jones jewellery store on the second floor of the shopping centre.

The men, one of whom was carrying a hand gun, threatened four female workers before smashing a display cabinet and making off with a large quantity of watches from the Ernest Jones jewellery store on the second floor of the shopping centre.

The men left the building by an exit near MacDonald's on the second floor of the centre.

One suspect who was wearing a crash helmet is thought to have been driven away on a motor cycle while another two suspects, both believed to be wearing balaclavas, left in a green car.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses working or shopping at the centre, in West Thurrock, Essex, around the time of the incident which took place at 8.50pm yesterday.
