Arrest after attempted bank robbery

A 53-YEAR-old man has been arrested after an attempted robbery at Barclays Bank in Leiston this morning.

A 53-YEAR-old man has been arrested after an attempted robbery at Barclays Bank in Leiston this morning.

A man entered the bank in Main Street around 10am today and handed staff a note demanding cash.

No money was handed over and the man left. No-one was hurt.

Police searched the area and later arrested the 53-year-old who is being held at Lowestoft Police Station where he will be interviewed by detectives.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 9am and 11am today to come forward if they have any information about the incident or the man involved.
