POLICE today reissued a plea for help in their hunt for the arsonists who damaged an 18th Century cottage in the grounds of a school.

Two semi-detached cottages in the grounds of St Joseph's College in Belstead Road suffered extensive damage as a result of the fire which tore through the building on Wednesday night.

Officers investigating the case are looking into the fact that the property was broken into before the fire broke out and tools valued at about £1,000 which had been stored inside the cottages were stolen.

They want anyone with information about the break-in, which could have taken place anytime between 9am and 10.30pm on Wednesday, to come forward.

Their investigation has also revealed that attempts were also made to enter builders' containers on the site but nothing was taken from inside the containers.

Anyone with information which could help in the arson investigation is asked to call Pc Catherine Steel at Ipswich police on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
