Arson suspected as building firm blazes

POLICE are today investigating a suspected arson attack after firefighters from Bury St Edmunds tackled a fierce blaze at a building suppliers.

Amid three converted terraced houses, the fire had taken hold on the ground floor of the end property at Fenners Building Supplies.

Amid three converted terraced houses, the fire had taken hold on the ground floor of the end property at Fenners Building Supplies.

Despite the efforts of three crews to extinguish the blaze within half an hour, the flames left the two connecting houses heavily smoke-logged.

Three appliances from Bury were called to the scene on Kings Road at 4.26am.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the blaze which happened sometime between 7.30pm last night and 4.30am this morning.

A police spokeswoman said: "We are treating the fire as suspicious."
