POLICE are investigating a serious assault which left a man in a critical condition in hospital with serious head injuries.
POLICE in Essex are investigating a serious assault in the early hours of Sunday morning that left a man in a critical condition in hospital with serious head injuries.
The 49-year-old man was found injured on a footpath in Colchester at about 1am and ambulance crews treating him quickly called for police to attend.
The man was discovered lying on a footpath which runs between Ladbrook Drive and Jackson Walk, near to the parking area accessed by Sargeant Close.
The victim was taken to Colchester General Hospital with serious head injuries where he was in a critical but stable condition.
Police cordoned off a section of the footpath to preserve the scene while they continued their investigation.
