AN association is seeking to contact French nationals living in Suffolk to help form a support group for visiting French students and business people.

The Ipswich Arras Association which maintains cultural and social links with the town of Arras in France, is calling for French nationals to come forward if they feel they could help make French visitors feel at home in the Ipswich area.

John Field, chairman of the association said it has become aware that French students who come to study in the region can find it difficult to make friends.

"We are hoping that French nationals who are living in the area might be able to offer their support to visitors, and we are hoping to compile a register of volunteers. I would ask anyone who would like to help to contact our secretary, Janet Hodge, on 01473 832296," said Mr Field.

The association's annual general meeting heard that it is currently enjoying record membership which now stands at 136.

The association will be entertaining a party of 15 visitors from Arras on the weekend of Friday 6th December.
