STOWMARKET: A charity group that provides vital social activities for children and teenagers with autism is set to scrap sessions next month after it ran out of money.

Stowmarket ASD Saturday Clubs has been relying on a three-year funding pledge from Children in Need and donations from the public to keep offering the activities to youngsters while also giving their families a much-needed break.

But the group, co-ordinated by Nikki Reynolds, is desperately short of cash and is having to cancel its monthly and fortnightly sessions in November and faces an uncertain future.

Mrs Reynolds, who was named unsung heroine of the year at the Stars of Suffolk Awards earlier this year for her dedication to the organisation, said it was a worrying time for all connected with the group.

The group offers a range of workshops, days out and activity sessions at its base at the Childer Road Community Centre in Stowmarket.
