Arrest made after armed police in stand-off with ‘axe’ man in Skylark Lane, Ipswich

An arrest has been after armed police were involved in a stand-off with a man carrying an axe at a property in Ipswich.
Officers were called at 11.05am to an address in Skylark Lane in the Pinewood area of town.
Residents of the road reported concerns for the actions of a male in rear garden, armed with an axe and causing damage to property.
A police helicopter, dog unit and armed officers were involved in containing and searching the immediate area.
By 12.54pm, police had arrested a man in connection with the incident.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was contained within a property and arrested on suspicion of affray.
He has been taken to Martlesham Heath Police Investigation Centre where he remains in custody.

A police spokesman said no one else was being sought in connection with the incident.
