TRAFFIC officers who stopped to investigate a car parked on the hard shoulder of a busy motorway got a surprise - a baby had just been born inside the vehicle.

The drama happened by the side of the M11 near Cambridge on Tuesday and saw two Highways Agency officers stop to inquire about the car.

Inside, Caroline Detheridge, of Cottenham, had just given birth to 7lb 4oz baby girl Rosie on the back seat.

Husband and proud new dad Steven thanked everyone for their help and said his new daughter arrived so quickly that she was already on the back seat waiting by the time he managed to pull over.
