A SUFFOLK schoolgirl accused of murdering her newborn baby told police that she had suspected she was pregnant.
In police interviews after her arrest the 15-year-old said that a couple of months before the baby boy was born she felt some movements in her stomach and had let her boyfriend feel the baby moving.
However she said the movements weren't really strong and she couldn't be sure she was pregnant as she was still getting periods and hadn't done a pregnancy test.
Asked by an officer “You knew you were pregnant?” the girl replied “In the back of my mind. I couldn't be definitely certain.”
She said she didn't know why she hadn't done a pregnancy test but thought it was because she didn't want to know the truth.
The girl, who is now 16, and her 17-year-old boyfriend have denied murdering their newborn baby on October 7 last year. They cannot be named because of their ages.

It has been alleged that the girl, who lives in the Eye area, gave birth in secret in a downstairs toilet while her parents, who didn't know she was pregnant, slept upstairs.
The baby had died shortly after his birth and a post-mortem examination found he had suffered a fractured skull and a broken arm which the prosecution claim could not have been caused accidentally.
