The accident happened at Goring in Oxfordshire this morning.
The 18-month-old girl, who fell into the Thames, was airlifted to hospital but it was thought she had died.
However, doctors discovered a faint heartbeat and the youngster is now fighting for her life.
Her mother and another child were also taken to hospital as a precaution.
