DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Jimoh Plunkett at Ipswich's Zest nightclub have cancelled the bail of the remaining five people arrested in connection with the incident.

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Jimoh Plunkett at Ipswich's Zest nightclub have cancelled the bail of the remaining five people arrested in connection with the incident.

Police say the enquiry continues and are continuing to urge anyone with information about that night to come forward.

Mr Plunkett, 24, was struck by a bullet at Zest nightclub in the early hours of Saturday, December 9, 2006.

More than 800 people were attending Zest for a private hire house event, 90 per cent of them from London.

A number of shots were discharged from a firearm within the club and Mr Plunkett was struck with a bullet to his chest.

He managed to run out of a fire escape door and ran 40 yards before collapsing in the street.

He was later pronounced dead at Ipswich Hospital. Three other men were injured.

Detective Superintendent David Cole, who has led the enquiry from the start, said: “The investigation is still active and will continue.

“The enquiry to date and liaison with Operation Trident has provided us with what we believe to be an accurate picture of the events that led to Jimoh's death.

“We believe that he was not the intended victim of the shooting, but that this was a case of mistaken identity. However, although we have a clear intelligence picture, we still require evidence.

“We know that people witnessed this shooting. They know who took Jimoh's life and inflicted the injuries sustained by three other men in the club that night however, for whatever reason, they do not feel able to come forward and do the right thing.

“We know it will take courage for them to talk to us and provide the evidence we need to proceed but we would ask them to consider the feelings of Jimoh's family and friends and those of the other victims of this shooting.

“Just because these bails have been cancelled it does not exclude further arrests or re-arrests at a future date. My team have carried out a huge amount of work and we are committed to seeing justice done. The enquiry will remain open until we can secure the conviction of those responsible for Jimoh's death.”

Detectives are continuing to ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the incident room on 01473 782000. You can also text
