IT is 25 years since they enjoyed a hit with their recording of The Floral Dance and the Brighouse and Rastrick Band's anniversary celebrations are set to bring them back to Ipswich.

On June 15 the renowned brass band will take to the stage at the Corn Exchange to perform a wide range of music.

It is likely the concert will end with a rousing rendition of the song which reached number two in the singles chart in 1977, only held off the top spot by Paul McCartney's Mull of Kintyre.

Formed in 1881, the Brighouse and Rastrick Band are one of the most successful and popular brass bands in the world today.

Winners of national, European and world championships in recent years, they perform to sell out audiences all over the world.

Tim Mutum, secretary of the Ipswich Charity Concert Committee, which is bringing the band to town, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming such a successful and popular band back to Ipswich.

"On their last visit in 1999 the Corn Exchange was filled to capacity."

Proceeds from the committee's latest concert will go to Cancer Research UK and the Ipswich Hospital Ear, Nose and Throat Equipment Fund.

Over the past 13 years the committee has raised over £33,000 for charity through bringing Britain's top brass bands to Ipswich.

The Brighouse and Rastrick Band concert at the Corn Exchange on June 15 is supported by Ipswich and Norwich Co-operative Society and Ipswich Borough Council.

Tickets cost £8.50 (£7 concessions) and are available at the Central Box Office, Princes Street, Ipswich, or by calling 01473 433100.
