TRAIN passengers face disruption this bank holiday weekend when work is carried out on the rail network.

Services run by National Express East Anglia will be affected due to improvement work being carried out by Transport for London and Network Rail on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

On Sunday and Monday trains will not run into London Liverpool Street station as TfL is installing a new bridge as part of the project to extend the East London line.

There will also be disruption on the line between Stratford and London Liverpool Street due to maintenance work.

A National Express East Anglia spokesman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works and advise customers to check amended timetable information at stations and on the website at www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com or by calling National Rail enquiries on 08457 48 49 50.”

On Saturday, trains will operate between Norwich and Ipswich. A replacement coach service will operate between Ipswich and Colchester. At Colchester passengers will be able to catch trains into London Liverpool Street.

Train services from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich/Harwich Town will be replaced by buses between Colchester and Ipswich/Harwich Town.

On Sunday and Monday trains will operate between Norwich and Ipswich. A replacement coach service will operate between Ipswich and Witham. Passengers will then be able to catch trains between Witham and Stratford.

Train services from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich/Harwich Town will be operate from Stratford, they will also be replaced by buses between Witham and Colchester Town/Ipswich/Harwich Town.

National Express East Anglia is also laying on extra trains on Bank Holiday Monday to supplement the usual bank holiday Sunday service. Details of these can be found on its website.
