KYSON Primary School in Woodbridge, has become the latest recycling venue in the Suffolk Coastal area.

The paper bank at the school entrance is part of the council's campaign to encourage people to Slim Your Bin.

Chris Slemmings, cabinet member for the environment, said: ''Members of the school council at Kyson Primary, who meet regularly to discuss ideas that will improve their school environment, thought that a bank to recycle paper generated from their school and for use by parents living nearby might be a good idea.

"It is encouraging that children want to become involved in recycling and are aware of the problems regarding the amount of waste going into landfill sites. By having a paper bank sited in their school grounds, not only will the school benefit but people living locally will be able to use the facility.''

Kyson joins more than 85 community groups in the district who recycle and are registered to be eligible for a community recycling grant. Last year the council handed out £16,365 to these groups.

The grant reflects the savings made by the district and the county councils in not having to collect and landfill the waste.
