Commuters passing through Ipswich railway station on Friday evening will be welcomed by the sounds of a 40-piece pop choir as Greater Anglia offers them a ‘platform to perform’ as part of the BBC’s UK-wide Music Day event.
Pop Chorus is a Suffolk-based community choir founded in 2012 by professional singer and vocal coach, Yula Andrews.
They will be raising the roof at Ipswich station from 5pm to 7pm with hits from the likes of Robbie Williams, Erasure, Radiohead, Beatles, Ed Sheeran and Bon Jovi.
Ms Andrews said: “I’m so excited that we’re singing at Ipswich station as part of Platform to Perform.
“I love the idea that there will be a network of voices across the country brightening peoples’ day.”
Paul Haynes, Greater Anglia’s partnerships manager, said: “It’s great to be involved, improving links between the community and the station and bringing smiles to the faces of the thousands of commuters who pass through.”
A similar event will also take place in Chelmsford.
