WHEN push comes to shove these fundraisers really know how to get the money rolling in.

More than £2,500 has been raised by care assistant Val Adams and her crew who pushed a bed from Martlesham Heath to Framlingham.

The money will all go to the Help the Heroes charity which supports wounded servicemen in Afghanistan and Iraq.

They pushed the bed from Martlesham Heath to the White Horse, Framlingham, along a route taking in Woodbridge, Melton, Ufford and Wickham Market.

The money raised includes £585 collected in buckets during the bed push on Saturday and £344 at a barbecue in the evening.

Val Adams, of King's Avenue, Framlingham said: ''We did really well and got lots of support from the public. A lot of people kept telling us we were raising money for an excellent cause and they were throwing money at us.''

She was accompanied by her partner Colin Read, Sandra and Darren Bishop, Leanne Webb, Angela and Peter Mayhew and Ady Warne. They left Martlesham Heath at 8.25am and arrived at the White Horse pub at 3.25pm.

The bed was one used in a previous bed push several years ago and was given to Mrs Adams by a friend who used to work at St Audry's Hospital in Melton.

Mrs Adams decided to raise the money for Help the Heroes as she feels not enough is done to help soldiers. Her son Neil is in the army and one of his friends was killed and two others have been injured.
